Insight intranet app
Insights by Suburban Propane is an all-in-one employee communication and collaboration platform designed to streamline internal communication, foster collaboration, and enhance employee engagement. Hosted on MangoApps, the platform acts as the company’s intranet, providing content owner training, support for all departments, and a centralized hub for company-wide updates and achievements. The platform is accessible to employees and contractors via both desktop and mobile devices (iOS and Android).

The Problem
Before the development of Insights, Suburban Propane faced significant challenges with internal communication and collaboration. The primary method for distributing company news and updates was a weekly newsletter, but it had limited readership and engagement. This lack of effective communication resulted in:
- Low employee engagement: With minimal interaction around company news, employees and contractors were less informed about the broader goals and successes of the company, reducing their sense of involvement and connection to the company’s mission.
- Fragmented departmental information: Employees had difficulty accessing up-to-date information about other departments’ achievements, initiatives, or important updates.
- Limited cross-departmental connection: The organization struggled to foster collaboration and create a sense of unity across departments, as information was often siloed.
The Goal
The goal of Insights by Suburban Propane was to create a centralized intranet platform to improve communication, foster collaboration, and increase employee engagement. The platform replaced an ineffective weekly newsletter with real-time updates, allowing employees to easily access dynamic content and stay informed about company-wide achievements and departmental initiatives. I was responsible for naming the platform “Insights” to reflect its purpose and developed a logo for internal branding. I also designed wireframes, built an intuitive information architecture, and collaborated with MangoApps developers to customize and populate the platform with essential content. Finally, I ensured the platform was mobile-accessible by submitting the app to both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for easy on-the-go engagement.
